Reading this board

A sector median P/E is useful mainly as a comparison for one company inside it. On its own it says little, because sectors earn on very different terms. A bank on seven times and a cement maker on seven times are not equally cheap.

The advancing bar counts companies, not weight. A sector can show more names up than down while its largest member falls and drags the index down with it.
